When thinking of ideas for our video we came up with many suggestions that were rejected;
For example we didn't create a live performance due to the budget we were given, and the look they were going for would have been quite hard to create. So we decided to make the video a lot more story lined and put emphasis on the artist and her personal life, that way people can relate to her and by the end of the video like her.
We also didn't put the beach idea in because as a group we thought that the artist didn't look great being windswept on the beach considering it's in February. However we replaced this scene with scene where she is packing all her stuff ready to leave her boyfriend, it seems very tense and works well.
Furthermore we also decided to reduce the amount of friends she has in the video to one, because this way her life becomes a lot more personal and we as an audience feel more privileged to be able to see whats happening. With anymore friends around her it would have looked like a fun day out not a discussion about her break up.

How in going to gather feed back;
- Utube
- Facebook
- Phone
- Computer
- Slide show (Presentation)
- C.D played through the TV.
All these application will have my video umloaded to them, so people can watch my video and give me feed back. It will also show how people listern to their music nowadays because the internet sites will show me how many viewings i have had.
How i will focus my feed back;
- Ask specific questions
- Write a questionnaire (so no biased comments)
The questions i will ask the audience;
- Does it keep your interest throughout the video?
- Do you like the storyline?
- What could i do to improve the video?
- Who is the video aimed at? (Target audience)
- What gender would most likely listern to this video?

Evaluation and reflection
Reflecting on my music video there are many strengths and weaknesses.For example the strengths of my video are the amount of cuts that i have used. this gives the video a good pace so the audience will stay interested in it. There is also the use of colour and black and white showing a variety of styles to suit different genres. The split screen i have used is well in sync with the music and what the two artists are saying to each other, which helps make the video look polished. Our video is heavily story lined, focusing on a break up which most people can relate too, this will help everyone to understand the point we were trying to get across. The artist is also modern, fresh not to weird that no one can relate to her, because we want the audience to feel what she is going through. However there are many weaknesses for example i feel my video could have been more interesting in terms of settings, e.g. i would have liked to have gone to the beach but the weather was not on our side. I would have also liked the artist to sing the lyrics however problems with the song meant we couldn't learn the song. Furthermore our group had a real problem with sticking to deadlines and communication was poor therefore on many occasions people couldn't make our shoot dates.
Feedback
Elderly lady, who listened to my video through U-tube said;
"My interest was kept throughout the video 100%, I understood the storyline of the song because it is very true to real life and people can relate to the events. I thought the song was very mellow and suited the storyline perfectly, very easy to listen too. However i would have liked the video to be longer, and the beginning of the split screen is quite muffled when the artists talk, and sometimes i couldn't understand it. I feel the target audience would be 18-35yr old and it's aimed mainly at women, because of the feelings the video addresses. Overall i feel it's a brilliant video, and the editing really helps it and the story flows".
Young adult female, who watched my video through facebook;
"I found it really interesting, because i wanted to know what happened at the end. The constant storyline helped to keep my interest. I liked the story line because i could relate my own life to the relationship the characters were having. To improve the video i feel that the scene where the main artist was standing in the bathroom could have shown more emotion because in some parts i didn't believe her performance. I feel the video is aimed at teenagers between 14-19yrs. The video in my opinion is aimed at females due to the storyline it has. Also because the artist is female you automatically think she is feeling these emotions. Overall i feel the video is good, because it educates people on what relationships can be like(factual). However i feel there should have been more drama, and a scene where the boyfriend could of expressed his emotions towards the main artist".
Middle age female, who watched my video through my phone;
"The video has kept my interest, because of the storyline and it was very easy to understand what was going on. I liked the storyline because it showed a different range of emotions and the acting was realistic. I don't feel the video needed to be improved in any way. I feel the target audience would be 17-25yrs.Defiantly aimed at a female audience because its a female who's upset and goes to another female for advise. Overall i feel the video is fantastic, because the scenes were well edited and there was a good use of effects and it was very convincing".
Male middle age, watched the video through Bebo;
"The video keep me interested more after the first 20sec's, because at the begining the video seemed rushed, especially the scene with the artists boyfriend i wanted to see more emotion. I liked the storyline, but as a male it wouldn't be my first choice, the storyline is relevant to young people and their relationships.Improvements i would like would be more to see more of the relationship with the boyfriend, i personally would have liked to see the relationship break up in more depth. The ending was a bit confusing as to who the other character was in the video. The target audience for me would be 13-18yrs. I feel the video is aimed at a female audience because it's telling the story of a girl to a girl. Overall i felt the video was very good but i needed more edxplanation at the begining, and i feel it happened too quick".
Friends with different social groups i.e. Indie,Rock, RnB etc They watched my video on my lap-top;
All these social groups thought my video was very good, however the Indie and Rock groups thought the video was too 'mushy', saying that the story line was conventional of most music videos and wasen't very original. The RnB group said that the storyline was exactly what they like to watch but found it strange to listern to a girl rather then a male lead artist. All groups thought the target audience was young adults and they also said how it would help to educate their youngg minds about relationships. The rock social group mentioned that in some parts the camera was very uneasy and would have been better if they had used a tri-pod. All members of the groups agreed it was targeted at a female audience, because the story is told through a females eyes, and thats who the audience has to relate to. Overall all groups felt that the video was made with great thought and the editing was mostly clean and smooth, however it wouldn't be their ideal video or storyline, they thought it would be more for people who listen to RnB and depressive songs.
Young male who has made a video himself, watched my video on a huge screen;
" I think the video is very well made, and suits the target audience. However i think it would have been better if we had seen more of the male artist and the devloping problems in the relationship, that way there would be no confusion as to why this is happening and where the female artist ends up. Mostly the edits seems quick but still manage to fit in with the lyrics and the pace of the song which is good. The effects used are suttle and not to 'corny' giving the video a polished look. I feel that the performance from the artists could have been more dramatic and shown in the emotions a lot more. I agree that this video would appeal to a female audience rather then male because of the way the story is told, i also get the impression that women would feel more like this then a male would i.e. instantly running to their best friends. Improvments that i would make would be to have more at the begining and develop the story more and to always use a tri-pod in still scenes because it looks more polished, but for a first attempts well done."

Account of filming
The roles i undertook were playing a part in the video. i was the main female actor in the video, and i was the Production manager. i wanted to play these parts because i wanted to be involved as much as i could in the video. It was also a lot of fun, However it wasn't as much fun making sure people turned up for the shoots on time and were able to stay as long as we needed them.
We made sure we stuck to the mise en scene as much as possible however we changed the setting of the beach to a car scene because the weather was never good. Furthermore we didn't use any private property so we were able to shoot whenever we wanted. We used the tripod a lot because we wanted some establishing shots and for the camera to stay steady a lot of the time.
The main problems we had was the weather and people turning up on time for shoots, also arranging for everyone to be there was hard because people had work commitments. We overcome this by making sure everyone was available on a certain day and asking them in advance. We changed scenes because of weather and eventually the video worked a lot better.
The original plans were changed slightly the female artist now only has 2 friends instead of 5 mainly because people didn't want to do it. We also changed the balcony scene to shooting on public stairs because no one wanted us in their house. Furthermore we did change a whole scene from the beach to a car.
I have learnt that film making is a lot harder then i thought, and a lot of stress. However once it's done there is a sense of self achievement and i grew to enjoy it.

Reflective blog 2
Planning we have created over the last few weeks includes a variety of things suchas a shot list which will really help when shooting the video because now we know what shots we are going to use, it also helps to organise everyone so they know what they are doing. Furthermore we have also created a selection of storyboards of what our audience wants, location shots, and props we need to include (see blog for further references). This was done to show our client what we are going to include in their video and to get their opinions on what they like and don't like. We have also completed the budget and proposed it to the client and they are happy with the expenses. We have also completed our bookings and permissions to shoot in certain palces, for example we had to get a friends permission to shoot in her garden (see blog for further reference). Our call sheets have also been filled in with everyones numbers on it so if someone doesn't show up we are able to ring them to see where they are. We have also given each other a set of numbers to ring if this happens. The risk assessments have been carried out appropriately, and they are all in place so if someone does get hurt, or equipment is lost we are legally covered to deal with the situation.
I contributed to all of these tasks and have writen them all, by doing this i feel i know exactly what is going on and what i need to do. Problems that have occured is the weather because one of the days we need it to rain and unfortunetly we can't predict the weather so we are having to wait for it to rain. Other problems are finding a boy for the video because everyone is to shy to want to do it. So we have decided to ask a drama student because most of them will jump at the chance to be infront of the camera. We have also been to our location and set up a few shots for the video, however it's quite dark at the top of the stairs so artifical light may br needed. Viability issues that have arisen are people being able to turn up on time or at all, so we are going to have to ring people in advance. Furthermore we also need to make sure the weather does what we want it to do. I have contributed by being the main star in the video, and by finding the location for the artist and her boyfriend to live, which has been really helpful in visualising the video.
Changes to the proposal are we have deided to let the artist have two friends in the video instead of 5 or 6, this is because we don't want the emphasis to be drawn away from her and how she's feeling. Furthermore instead of having the artist throw clothes at her boyfriend from a balcony we have chosen to have them facing each other so the scene is more intense. Furthermore we have added her meeting her friends at the platform of the train station because otherwise the audience may lose the flow of the video. Skills that have developed through making this video is the ability to use a camera, being able to plan ahead, organise locations and ring round to see who wants to be in the video and what role they will play etc.
During the next 3 weeks we will be shooting our video, and focussing on what our client wants. I will also be needing to book train tickets to shoot part of the video. Furthermore i need to tell other teachers that i may not be in their lessons due to filming. I will also need to keep a log of what i do within the filming stages so i can upload it to my blog.

Risk Assessment sheet
Schedule for our shooting days.
When we were completing this schedule we did it as a group, however i was the scribe. Each member of our crew will be given one of these so they no what they need to bring and what we are shooting on which day. It's really helpful because it shows organisation and we will get through the video a lot quicker.

Permissions and bookings for our video
Shot list about our video.
As a group, we created this shot list:
Starts with a bit of dialog, she’s on the phone telling her friend she’s going far away. (Close up of her looking at a locket).
Split screen of her talking to her boyfriend, and him trying to get her back.
Music begins conversation stops and the camera zooms in on her face (crying).
Have the artist keep looking out of the window close up of her face.
When the first verse begins the video will zoom in then out to create a flash back of her life with her boyfriend.
Cuts to a high angle shot of her throwing clothes at her boyfriend on the balcony of their home.
Aerial shot of how rough it is on their estate, her looking out crying from the balcony thinking “How did I get here”.
Cuts from him to her arguing, using extreme close up and long shots of the argument.
It then fades back to the present day of her sitting on the train reflecting on her life. (Still thinking about her ex boyfriend she looks at the locket).
Close up of the train doors opening, and her walking out.
Following shot of her running down the platform to meet her friends. Embracing each other.
The video then cuts to her and her friends walk.
Parts on the beach will be in slow motion. (Long shots the beach, having a laugh, but you can tell she’s still thinking about her boyfriend.)
Cuts to her and her friends walking into her new house, getting ready to go out. Close up of her looking into the mirror. She keeps touching the locket.
Camera keeps picking up on her friends encouraging her to go out, and forget about him.
Quick editing of her friends picking dresses out for the artist to wear, and her looking and saying no I don’t really want to go.
Cuts to her and her friends walking out of the door for a night out. (long shot).
The camera zooms in on the artist because she stops, tells her friends she’ll catch up.
Extreme close up of her holding the locket really intensely, taking it off and throwing it, slow motion of the locket travelling through the air.
Extreme close up of the locket breaking open.
Zoom in of a picture of the artist with her boyfriend (symbolises her throwing him out of her life)
Long shot of her walking down the road and her friends waiting for her. All of them walking together. (as music fades out).
