Account of filming

The roles i undertook were playing a part in the video. i was the main female actor in the video, and i was the Production manager. i wanted to play these parts because i wanted to be involved as much as i could in the video. It was also a lot of fun, However it wasn't as much fun making sure people turned up for the shoots on time and were able to stay as long as we needed them.
We made sure we stuck to the mise en scene as much as possible however we changed the setting of the beach to a car scene because the weather was never good. Furthermore we didn't use any private property so we were able to shoot whenever we wanted. We used the tripod a lot because we wanted some establishing shots and for the camera to stay steady a lot of the time.
The main problems we had was the weather and people turning up on time for shoots, also arranging for everyone to be there was hard because people had work commitments. We overcome this by making sure everyone was available on a certain day and asking them in advance. We changed scenes because of weather and eventually the video worked a lot better.
The original plans were changed slightly the female artist now only has 2 friends instead of 5 mainly because people didn't want to do it. We also changed the balcony scene to shooting on public stairs because no one wanted us in their house. Furthermore we did change a whole scene from the beach to a car.
I have learnt that film making is a lot harder then i thought, and a lot of stress. However once it's done there is a sense of self achievement and i grew to enjoy it.

Invoice - writing to the client confirming cost

This invoice was writen by Lindsey, however we worked out the cost as a group.

Letter to the client - Locations

This Letter was completed by Lindsey, however the content was done as a group.

Reflective blog 2

Planning we have created over the last few weeks includes a variety of things suchas a shot list which will really help when shooting the video because now we know what shots we are going to use, it also helps to organise everyone so they know what they are doing. Furthermore we have also created a selection of storyboards of what our audience wants, location shots, and props we need to include (see blog for further references). This was done to show our client what we are going to include in their video and to get their opinions on what they like and don't like. We have also completed the budget and proposed it to the client and they are happy with the expenses. We have also completed our bookings and permissions to shoot in certain palces, for example we had to get a friends permission to shoot in her garden (see blog for further reference). Our call sheets have also been filled in with everyones numbers on it so if someone doesn't show up we are able to ring them to see where they are. We have also given each other a set of numbers to ring if this happens. The risk assessments have been carried out appropriately, and they are all in place so if someone does get hurt, or equipment is lost we are legally covered to deal with the situation.

I contributed to all of these tasks and have writen them all, by doing this i feel i know exactly what is going on and what i need to do. Problems that have occured is the weather because one of the days we need it to rain and unfortunetly we can't predict the weather so we are having to wait for it to rain. Other problems are finding a boy for the video because everyone is to shy to want to do it. So we have decided to ask a drama student because most of them will jump at the chance to be infront of the camera. We have also been to our location and set up a few shots for the video, however it's quite dark at the top of the stairs so artifical light may br needed. Viability issues that have arisen are people being able to turn up on time or at all, so we are going to have to ring people in advance. Furthermore we also need to make sure the weather does what we want it to do. I have contributed by being the main star in the video, and by finding the location for the artist and her boyfriend to live, which has been really helpful in visualising the video.

Changes to the proposal are we have deided to let the artist have two friends in the video instead of 5 or 6, this is because we don't want the emphasis to be drawn away from her and how she's feeling. Furthermore instead of having the artist throw clothes at her boyfriend from a balcony we have chosen to have them facing each other so the scene is more intense. Furthermore we have added her meeting her friends at the platform of the train station because otherwise the audience may lose the flow of the video. Skills that have developed through making this video is the ability to use a camera, being able to plan ahead, organise locations and ring round to see who wants to be in the video and what role they will play etc.

During the next 3 weeks we will be shooting our video, and focussing on what our client wants. I will also be needing to book train tickets to shoot part of the video. Furthermore i need to tell other teachers that i may not be in their lessons due to filming. I will also need to keep a log of what i do within the filming stages so i can upload it to my blog.

Risk Assessment sheet

This risk assessment sheet is to ensure that we have all legal angles covered, so that if anything did go wrong we could fix it. It's also to organise everyone and to give them an overview of their responsibilities. We completed this as a group, however i was the scribe.

Schedule for our shooting days.

When we were completing this schedule we did it as a group, however i was the scribe. Each member of our crew will be given one of these so they no what they need to bring and what we are shooting on which day. It's really helpful because it shows organisation and we will get through the video a lot quicker.

Permissions and bookings for our video

Here is a list of what we need to arrange for our video. There are certain responsibilites given to each member of the group. (Cedella was the scribe)

Shot list about our video.

As a group, we created this shot list:

Starts with a bit of dialog, she’s on the phone telling her friend she’s going far away. (Close up of her looking at a locket).

Split screen of her talking to her boyfriend, and him trying to get her back.

Music begins conversation stops and the camera zooms in on her face (crying).

Have the artist keep looking out of the window close up of her face.

When the first verse begins the video will zoom in then out to create a flash back of her life with her boyfriend.

Cuts to a high angle shot of her throwing clothes at her boyfriend on the balcony of their home.
Aerial shot of how rough it is on their estate, her looking out crying from the balcony thinking “How did I get here”.

Cuts from him to her arguing, using extreme close up and long shots of the argument.

It then fades back to the present day of her sitting on the train reflecting on her life. (Still thinking about her ex boyfriend she looks at the locket).

Close up of the train doors opening, and her walking out.

Following shot of her running down the platform to meet her friends. Embracing each other.

The video then cuts to her and her friends walk.

Parts on the beach will be in slow motion. (Long shots the beach, having a laugh, but you can tell she’s still thinking about her boyfriend.)

Cuts to her and her friends walking into her new house, getting ready to go out. Close up of her looking into the mirror. She keeps touching the locket.

Camera keeps picking up on her friends encouraging her to go out, and forget about him.
Quick editing of her friends picking dresses out for the artist to wear, and her looking and saying no I don’t really want to go.

Cuts to her and her friends walking out of the door for a night out. (long shot).

The camera zooms in on the artist because she stops, tells her friends she’ll catch up.
Extreme close up of her holding the locket really intensely, taking it off and throwing it, slow motion of the locket travelling through the air.

Extreme close up of the locket breaking open.

Zoom in of a picture of the artist with her boyfriend (symbolises her throwing him out of her life)
Long shot of her walking down the road and her friends waiting for her. All of them walking together. (as music fades out).

Potential items the artist and characters will wear in the video

This is the suitcase we will hope to be using when the female artist decides to leave her boyfriend for the final time.

These is an item that will be worn throughout the video to keep the audience wondering whats inside it. At the end it will reveal a picture of her boyfriend she will then throw it away, displaying that he's out of her life forever.

These are a few potential dresses the artist and her friends could wear going out at the end of the video. It will show the artist back to her original self and looking really good without her boyfriend there to knock her down.

Our female arist will be wearing leggings with heels and a dress when she goes out with her friends at the end of the video.

These are a few options of what my female artist could wear towards the end of her video. When she is walking along the beach with her friends.

This is a picture of our potential female artist, we would like to have this person because she looks vulnerable, like she could be easily lead. However if pushed to hard she looks like she could fight back, and say when she's has enough. (She could be wearing this on the beach, or when she is leaving her boyfriend, maybe on the train).

This image is a vest which the male artist will wear, in films its a sterotypical item for a man beating his wife. The audience will be able to relate to this and know he's a bad man.

These are potential tops that the three friends will wear in the vide, i feel that they are appropriate because they are casual but fashionable. But dull coloured so the main artist will stand out.

This is a picture of the potential boyfriend of the artist. He looks violent and a bit of a bully. His clothes portray the typical thug and i feel the two of them will look good with each other.

Locations-Things that our group needs to arrange.

Description of our charaters

Our first charater is the female lead/artist;
She will be portrayed as quite vulnerablable but as the video goes on it will show her gaining inner strength. Her clothes will vary from quite a trampy look when she is with her boyfriend to a very pretty and fashionable girl it will show her going out with her friends a lot more and doing things she had stopped previously. She is clearly crushed by everything her boyfriend does to her and therefore doesn't want to upset him in any way because she is scared. Towards the end of the video she seems to be a completely different person, she starts going out with her friends, dressing better, gets a house of her own due to her up coming career.

The male lead/artist;
Hes going to be portrayed as an evil possessive boyfriend who won't let his girlfriend do anything. They start arguing about silly things and the cracks really begin to show. He will mostly be dressed in a vest top which some people associate with as a wife beaters top, so i feel this fits his charater. He will also be dressed in a lot of bling showiing an envious lifestyle to the audience. It also shows that he can afford to buy things for himself but not his girlfriend. He is a very selfish, and secrective person who can easily munipulate people.

The three friends of the female artist;
These friends are true and genuinely care what happens to their friend, they are pleased that she has stepped out of his shadow and getting on with her life. They are glad they have got their friend back to the way she used to be, i.e. going out having fun, shopping, dressing how ahe used to. The three friends really show the audience what the artist used to be like because they are so bubbly and out going and it's really obvious she was popular. Overall the artist and her friends are really pleased to be reunited and this part of the video really shows her moving on with her life.

Ideas for our video

List of possible ideas for our video, different scenes, locations, characters, props and costumes. Ideas that i choose for the video were the location of the beach showing her reflecting on her past relationship. i feel this is a really good idea because it helps the audience follow the video better. Another idea that was mine was the location for her brand new house, which is going to be at Cedellas, giving the audience different locations will really help them keep interested in the video.Whilst we discussed all of this as a group i wrote these ideas up by myself.

Moodboards 024

I used this moodboard to create an overview of what my target audience will like, and what they like to see in a video. I was the one who gathered the pictures and stuck them to the page. This shows evidence of our group researching our target audience and considering what they want to see.

Images of our moodboard

These images are part of our two moodboards we created as a group. The decisions i made in order to create these boards was to gather a lot of audience research and present it in many ways, for example using statistics, a short paragraph about the the psychological reasons way people watch music videos and an interview with someone who is typical of my target audience. Furthermore i also helped collect images of certain things for example of alcohol to make the point that in the video the artist likes to drink(see images to make further comparisions). It also gives the client some visuals of where we will be shooting making it easier for them to picture what the video will look like. We also think pur video will appeal to our target audience because it is heavily storylined and the audience research shows that is what people like, that way they can relate their own problems with the artists. Furthermore our video has an artist whos lifestlye would be envious to the audience, which is something the audience likes to see so they can get fashion tips.

Copy of our treatment

This item was sent to the client in order for them to read it in more detail. i produced the paragragh about target audience and the client seemed to agree with me about the audience they want to attract.
